Artist Statement

As a Black woman who is visually impaired, I have faced many challenges on my artistic journey. I have grappled with a degenerative disease that relentlessly robs me of my sight, leaving me with an uncertain future. However, these challenges have become the catalyst for my own unique path where I am able to share my story with the world through my artwork. My pieces are meant to stir emotion, provoke dialogue and provide a momentary silence from which introspection can take place. Where color is employed, I use it as a metaphor to illustrate the masks we wear concealing hidden narratives and feelings. Above all, I create from my core self in an effort to inspire authenticity and discovery of oneself.
